Research Products Corporation has determined a specific type of electrode wire with a “D” shaped connector may loosen causing arcing and/or overheating at the interface of the connector and canister, posing a fire hazard. The affected Steam Humidifiers were produced from June 2010 – January 2015. No other products are affected. Research Products Corporation voluntarily notified and is working with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission on this issue.

The Steam Humidifier was marketed under the following brand names and models:

To eliminate the fire hazard, Research Products Corporation engineers developed an electrode wire with an “O” shaped connector which has been used in Steam Humidifiers manufactured after January 2015.

To help us reach homeowners, we are asking your help in identifying the heating and cooling contractors, or other customers, to whom you sold these Steam Humidifier models through January 2015.

Within the next 5 business days, please email an Excel file containing the following information: Business name, address, phone number, and number of units purchased to the appropriate email address below. Please note, your customer list will not be compromised. It will not be sold, shared, or used for any purpose other than this recall.

To access an easy-to-use Excel template for your contractor data, click here.

We advise your purchasing department to check your inventory of the parts numbers listed below and  Field scrap any unsold inventory of electrode wires with the “D” style connectors and file a product replacement claim.

Carrier® & Bryant®                   #5372

We are simultaneously notifying contractors to check these part numbers of electrode wires with “D” shaped connectors and Research Products will replace the inventory with electrode wires with “O” shaped connectors free of charge.
