Important Safety Recall Notice
Research Products Corporation has determined a specific type of electrode wire with a “D” shaped connector may loosen causing arcing and/or overheating at the interface of the connector and canister, posing a fire hazard. The affected Steam Humidifiers were produced from June 2010 – January 2015. No other products are affected. Research Products Corporation voluntarily notified and is working with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission on this issue.
The Steam Humidifier was marketed under the following brand names and models:
Use the images above to help you locate the Steam Humidifier unit which is approximately 10 inches wide by 20 inches tall and likely mounted to a wall near your heating/cooling system. The model number can be found on a silver label placed in the bottom left corner on the outside left side panel of the Steam Humidifier.
Identify if you have a recalled “D” Shaped Connector:

Press “On/Off“ switch to turn humidifier off.

Allow humidifier to drain and the green “Drain” LED to stop flashing.

Allow the unit to cool to room temperature.

Disconnect main electrical power to humidifier at the circuit breaker.

Loosen the screw at the bottom of the front panel and slide the cover off.

Visually inspect the two black connectors attached to the canisters. Do not touch the connectors.
“O” Connector: outside wall of the connector where it meets the top of the canister is indented with finger grips. The electrode wires on your unit are NOT recalled.

Replace front panel. Tighten the screw at the bottom of the front panel.

Restore electrical power to humidifier at the circuit breaker.

Turn humidifier on and verify the green “ On/Off” light is illuminated.
“D” Connector: outside wall of the connector where it meets the top of the canister is smooth. These electrode wires are recalled.
Do not restore the power. Until the repair kit is installed, keep the Steam Humidifier turned off.
